A Night to Remember: Celebrating 54 Years of Filipino American Pride in Pierce County

On May 10, 2025, the La Quinta Inn in Tacoma, Washington, was alive with the spirit of Filipino culture as the Filipino American-League of Pierce County marked its 54th anniversary. The night was nothing short of spectacular, brimming with music, dance, and an unwavering sense of community.
The event featured notable attendees Senator Javier Valdez, who spoke passionately about the evening's significance. Also, a special written message was provided by Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland. Their remarks highlighted the rich heritage and contributions of the Filipino American community, emphasizing how unity and pride in one’s roots bring people together.

Ms. Digna Quimosing was a remarkable Master of Ceremony, skillfully weaving the narrative of the Filipino American League’s history alongside the vibrant achievements of its members. Her warmth made everyone feel welcomed, and her enthusiasm set the perfect tone for the night.
As attendees arrived, they were treated to a soul-stirring performance of the national anthems by Ms. Elenita Nigro and Ms. Maricres Castro. The pride in their voices resonated throughout the room, creating a moment of unity that reminded everyone of their connection to both the Philippines and America.

The highlight of the evening was a heartfelt welcome address from Ms. Malou Valdez, the President of the Filipino American League. Her passionate message celebrated 54 years of achievements and struggles, recognizing the hard work of countless volunteers who have shaped the league. Ms. Valdez’s inspiring words acknowledged the journey of Filipino Americans in Pierce County, reflecting on the community's growth and resilience.

As the night progressed, attendees enjoyed a delicious dinner.

No celebration would be complete without dancing. After dinner, the dance floor came alive with the electric slide, inviting everyone to take part. With music provided by Mr. Cesar Quimosing, guests could be seen laughing and dancing, embodying a spirit of fun and togetherness that resonated throughout the evening.
As the event came to a close, it became evident that the 54th Anniversary Celebration of the Filipino American-League was more than just a milestone.
